According to our research and the many complaints or concerns we've received, consumers should beware of this company.

Their website claims to have started 'manufacturing' their tubs back in 2002. According to their business records, America's Walk in Tubs didn't open until the first part of 2010.

Consumers that have had representatives to their homes are told that these tubs are manufactured 99% American and 1% Canadian.  However, the assembly takes place at their warehouse in New Jersey.

Is that so?

According to the New Jersey secretary of state, America's Walk in Tubs is not a registered legal corporation or manufacturing plant.  Quite the contrary, America's Walk in Tubs actually imports their tubs directly from China.  See the Bill of Lading

A quick google maps view of the warehouse address will display a small storefront with two display windows of walk in bathtubs.  In the back, a small warehouse that houses an Automotive Repair shop.

I have had nothing but problems and I am still paying for the tub I have not been able to talk to anyone the people I was able to get a hold of said they would call me back then never would answer their phones again when I called. The handle that closes the door broke.off 10 of the jets have came out now if you turn on the jets you can't turn it off. I would love to be included in the lawsuit

ANOTHER COMPANY BOUGHT THE TUB FROM AMERICA WALKING TUBS AND SUPPOSE TO BE UNDER A LIFE TIME WARRINTY. IT'S NOT. PLUS THE KNOB THAT OPENS THE DRAIN HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED RIGHT AFTER TWO THEIR PLUMBERS CAME TO FIX IT. (SO THEY SAY) THAT WAS A YEAR OR TWO AGO. PLUS BILL GOT VERY RUDE WITH ME AND TOLD ME HE WAS TRIED OF BEING BOTHER WITH ME.IF I KNOW WHAT I KNOW NOW. I WOULD NOT BEG MY DAD TO PUT IT IN. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO GO OUT OF BUSSINESS OR SALE THE COMPANY TO SOME ONE THAT RUN IT BETTER THEN CAN

Robin,
You really don't listen to Consumer Affairs. You brought your case against
us to them and with the information that you sent them and what I sent
them, they told you and I quote that I can "TAKE YOU TO COURT" if you write
anything against us. I guess you really what problems for you and your
daddy!!!!!

Donna,
I did this to wake you up, but why you are still in business
You and Bill can not take care of your people and the warranty of anything on the tub. The small jets have stopped working and your not going to take care of that. You have other complaints about you and bill. The came in to kip as a defeat. Which you should have gone to the company that made it or replace the tub at no cost.

As stated to AWITubs:

1) During install, building and electrical code standards were not followed. We pointed out code violations
such as mounting a GFI interrupt under the tub where live electricity would remain even if tripped.
We had asked your installer to use an existing GFI circuit in the bathroom.
He refused to do so.
We had to have him move the GFI trip device to the other circuit that he had selected from another room that he chose to tap into.
Your installer ran the wiring to the tub under quarter round/shoe moulding instead of through wall studs as
we understood was required by code. Your installer assured us this deviation was legal even though we were
concerned brads/nails may puncture the line that he so ran.
2) Our order was incomplete. The tub enclosure panels for above the tub were not all shipped with the tub.
Your installer insisted that the missing panels had to be special ordered and he then directed us to
*install them ourselves*
(Separated for emphasis)
even though a full installation by you had been paid for. During a subsequent return to repair a leak,
and after the remaining panels arrived, your installer did install the enclosure panels. (We wonder ... Would he have ever returned if there had been no leak?)
3) Your installer had to return and completely pull the tub because the fixtures on the tub leaked profusely under
the tub when it was used. They had not been tightened at install.
4) Your installer had to return and reseal the tub along the wall line as it had not been sealed properly and water
was leaking down the wall - over the GFI controlled outlet.
5) On every return visit, we demonstrated to your installer that water leaks down the opening to the hand held
shower hose as it's opening is larger than the hose. Your installer promised on three occasions to provide a solution and indicated that he had discussed this obvious defect with the owner. We had been assured that this tub could be used as a shower unit too. In fact, you installed a sliding wall mount to hold the hand unit to provide this feature and listed it in your documentation. You stated clearly that this unit can be used as a shower. To date you have never resolved this design defect. We have filled the opening with silicone seal, but this only helps somewhat.

We are fortunate this has not required that we shut off water to our whole house for the past 5+ days.

We purchased this unit to afford convenience for our cancer stricken Mother-in-law and her bathing needs. We made it clear that our 4 children would also use this unit for daily showers. You sold this unit explicitly assuring us this unit could handle both circumstances on a daily basis.

AWITubs has record of all these service calls.

We can provide pictures of the damages their unit has caused, under warranty, for which they continue (as of this date, 5 days later) to not provide any technician or solution.
They have never calked us eventhough they are fully aware that this 5 person family can't use this defective tub.

5 days ago, we discovered a major leak in their tub which has caused mold, ruined the drywall in the floor/ceiling below, rotted wood and caused us to stop using this AWI Tub.

Terrible outfit.

They have a design flaw that lets the hand held shower leak profusely and will destroy your bathroom.

After 5 years, we have a major leak that has ruined the bathroom below and the flooring of this bathroom.

Do they care? I think not.

Stay away from these folks unless you want problems.

I can provide pictures of what their product has done.

This company is terrible!
They just do not care!

We had 3 leaks and they still haven't fixed them.
Now we have a major leak, 5 years later, that has ruined the flooring of this bathroom and the ceiling of the bathroom below.

Do they care? I think not.

Stay away from this outfit.

Tony, the installer needs training.

Bill, the owner has never cared to fix any problems in 5 years.

What does that tell you?

This is a frightful outfit.

Go elsewhere.

I can give you pictures.

This is a rotten company with a product that does NoT live up to it's expectations.

We have had 4 major problems with them, have tried to work with AWITubs, and they still fail to provide a competant product.

After 5 years, their tub has leaked continuously even though their man (Tony) has promised fixes. Now, it leaks so bad, it has ruined the ceiling of the bathroom below, and is a real heartache. I now need to hire contractors to fix this debacle.

Bill, the owner, has never bothered to come out after 3 prior leaks and problems.

These folks just don't care.

Once sold to, you do not matter anymore.

Go with someone else.

These folks just do not care.

I first of all must write that I am catagorically not connected to American Tubs in any way but would like to make this comment. I have worked in the tub industry for many years, with the larger more well none companies, so feel informed enough to provide this statement. Their is absolutely not a single tub in the market place that does not have some part of it made overseas. This would include all of the more commonly none companies and certainly all of the smaller operators. Many of the leading companies installing walkin tubs are nothing more than sales and marketing companies that happen to sell a tub. Generally speaking they have come from other home improvement businesses, windows/siding etc, but have cottoned onto the fact that alot of people invest in this product. Regarding aspects of the product being made overseas, there is hardly an electrical appliance or piece of clothing, or even most items that we buy and have in our homes, that part or all of it is made overseas, so please do not base your buying decision on that alone, as you will sverely limit your options. The Walkintubs at the better end of the market price from $12k- $17k installed depending on who you buy from, they do differ in features and construction. My belief is, you invest your money with who is best to install and service your product. Buy from a solely owned company, not one that operates through dealers or is operated by a distributor for. In my 15 years in this industry I have seen the names of companies change year on year. Same people under a different name. Good luck everyone with your tub purchase.

JOHN O'TOOLE and VINCENT LAU at AMERICAN TUBS are fraudulently making all of theses reviews, which is illegal to do in California. See unfair business acts in the Cali Business and Proffeaional Code.

American Walk In Tubs has the best tubs you can buy.

I have purchased a walk in tub from this company beginning of this summer (2014) & once fully installed, the tub works well. I have no complaints with Bill, or Donna. I have also dealt with Jim & whatever issues I've had, have all been handled in a timely manner. I am very pleased with the entire purchase of the tub & love the tile surround so much as it is stunningly beautiful. I would & can recommend this company.

The comments made above are false. We have a warehouse in Lawrenceville, NJ that is 5,000 square feet. The above place is where we use to be in Quakertown and the Automotive Repair shop was the Landlord!!!!! Anybody is welcomed to come and look at our warehouse at 2901 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

LISTEN TO ALICE AND THIS WEBSITE

We were so excited to find an American made walk in bathtub from America's Walk in Tubs and it was a great price compared to Safe Step which we had already had out to our house. Little did we know that the tub wasn't actually american made!!!!!!!
YEAH, WE BOUGHT ONE!!!!
When it arrived it had a sticker attached to it stating where it had been manufactured, and guess what........... . IT WAS MADE IN CHINA!!!!
WERE STILL FIGHTING TO GET OUR MONEY BACK!!!!! WE PAID $8,000 FOR A TUB WE COULD'VE BOUGHT FOR ABOUT $4,000!!!!

STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

My husband and I inquired with America's Walk in Tubs online and had a rep come out to our home just about a week ago. Just like the paragraph says, 99% American 1% Canadian is what the saleswoman said to us.

I'm sooo happy that we told her we wanted to think about it, but she was very persistent that we act that day. She even gave us a "special promotion" if we were to buy the same day!

Something just didn't feel right and my husband and I never buy something, especially in the thousands of dollars range, without first thinking about it.

We were just doing some research online about them and couldn't find anything but this website. Thank you! I would've never known that America's walk in tubs wasn't actually American made!!! It's unbelievable that they lie like that! We just wanted American made, nothing Chinese!

Thanks again for the info on this company! Guess we'll be doing a little more research until we find the right one.

Our tubs are not 1% Canadian. Our salespeople do not have special promotions, that would be Premier.
